  • Glass Balustrades Project: GE Technology Centre Jandakot

GLOBAL conglomerate GE has opened a $100 million technology and learning complex in Perth, its first in-country support and maintenance centre for the oil and gas industry.

Thumps X1 series glass balustrades was specified on an office building in Perth WA for Jandakot airport holdings by architects” Meyer Shircore and Associates”. The builder was “Solutions Won”. Due to reasons outside the builders control Thump was contacted with only a few weeks left before completion. The builder later informed us that he was very happy with the speed at which thump was able to get the glass balustrades installed. He also added that the Thump staff showed great commitment in getting the balustrades installed before the building hand over. The builder is in contact with the sales staff in regards to another project in Perth.

    “Anthony,

I would like to formally thank you for the effort Thump have put in to supply and install the handrails and glass balustrade to the main stair in GE’s new Jandakot Head office. From my first contact with you, through to the completion of the work, Thump has provided a very high level of service, assistance and quality and have produced a finished product that we are all very pleased with. Your site crew, Stu and Matt, did an excellent job in difficult circumstances, many people have commented on the quality of the welding and finish on the handrails. Given that the stair was our main access to the building, Stu and Matt were able to carry out their work with little disruption to our work to complete the fit-out. Thank you again for all of your effort and we will not hesitate to contact you when we have other stairs to fit handrails and balustrades to.

    Regards
    Peter,”

  • Design EX Sydney, 2012

    Design EX_2

It has been a busy 2 weeks. Firstly design and build in Brisbane then 2 days later to Designex in Sydney
Thump had an eye catching display at both these trade shows, A ½ scale model was used to display
many of the options available in the X1 semiframeless balustrade systems series.

This display along with an extensive range of images worked well and visitors to the stand got an appreciation of the versatility of the x1 series balustrade system. Visitors were also able to see the different stainless steel finishes and the types of glass (frosted, grey, blue, low iron) in one place, that can be used in the X1 balustrade systems.

The shows were a timely opportunity to introduce the new glass awnings and glass sunshades as extensive options in the X1 glass balustrade system. All of these options can be seen in the system selector on the thump website.

Thump would like thank National Glass for their help in bringing the display to life and for their service and support over the past 5 years. We also got to meet the Better Homes and Gardens team who are just as smiley in real life!

  • Busby Residence wins Robin Dods Award

The top residential award for 2009, the Robin Dods Awards for residential architecture, has gone to a beachhouse in Yepoon on the Central Queensland Coast by architect Brian Hooper.

Jury Director Justin O’Neill said the house was an outstanding example of coastal infill: “a modern interpretaion of the beach house vernacular and a great precedent for future beach houses in this coastal zone”.

The X1-Series balustrades were an ideal choice from the architect as they are capable of withstanding the harsh environments of its coastal location as well as providing striking good looks whilst maximising the view attainable through it.

  • Eco House features on Better Homes and Gardens

The Eco House, in Brisbanes West End, by Riddell Architects was recently featured on Channel 7’s Better Homes and Gardens program.  The program features prominently the X1-Series balustrades, and explains how the selection of the materials, including the balustrades helped the project acheive its, unsurpassable, 6 Star Green Star rating.

The materials used in the X1-Series balustrades, due to their ability to be recycled, as well as the products being manufactured locally, means they can assist a project in obtaining Green Star points. The Energex Headquaters building at Newstead is another project where the products were used to assist in obtaining Green Star points.
